wrong! extremely stressful – you are dealing with the OR- not to mention crash carts – turnover – horrible managers – lazy asses
the list can gone on and on
you don’t know stress until a doc screams at you
12 years invested – only thing that kept me there was some great co workers

You have this totally wrong! Obviously you haven’t interviewed any sterile processing technicians. They would tell you how stressful it is. You have to deal with so much “oh crap” moments. You get yelled at by Doctors, nurses, OR techs, leadership, and your own staff. You have to deal with one of a kind instruments that have to be turned over right away while the Patient is still on the table. You have to deal with phone calls from the OR, clinic picking up and dropping off . There is so many things I can name and speaking for a lot of other techs. Come work where we work and you will have a big eye opener. This article is absolutely false and makes us tech feel like we don’t work hard.

Being a Sterile Processing Tech, Lead Tech, and Supervisor, I cannot fathom how you came up with these results. Sterile Processing is the life blood of any hospital and anyone who says differently has no idea what they are taking about. The pressure put on our staff is tremendous. With out clean sterile instruments, there are not any surgeries. Step into my shoes or any of my staffs shoes for one day and I promise that you would reconsider this travesty of a survey.

I don’t know who you interviewed for this article but I’ve worked in this field for 35 years and it is a VERY stressful job. I think you should retract that article for untruths it states
