MITACS Globalink Research Internship 2024 Canada: A Fully Funded Opportunity for Top-Ranked Undergraduate Students
Mitacs Globalink Research Internships (GRIs) are a competitive program that invites top-ranked undergraduate students from around the world to experience Canada as a leading destination for research & innovation. Each year, Mitacs matches over 1,000 students with faculty at Canadian universities for a 12-week research project of mutual interest in the period of May to September.
The GRI program offers students a unique opportunity to:

What is the cost of a Mitacs GRI?
The cost of a Mitacs GRI is $12,000 CAD per student placement. This includes:
- A stipend of $4,000 CAD per month
- Travel costs to and from Canada
- Health insurance
- Research expenses
What is the application process for a Mitacs GRI?
The application process for a Mitacs GRI is as follows:
- Faculty members submit research project proposals to Mitacs.
- Mitacs reviews the project proposals and selects those that are most competitive.
- The successful projects are made available to student applicants in an online database.
- International students submit applications and select research projects from the online database.
- Mitacs reviews the student applications and selects the most qualified candidates.

Students from Pakistan who are interested in participating in the MITACS Globalink Research Internship (GRI) program must be enrolled in one of the following eligible institutions:
- COMSATS University Islamabad
- Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology
- Lahore University of Management Sciences
- National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad
- NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi
- University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore
- University of Karachi
In addition to the general eligibility requirements for the GRI program, students from Pakistan must also meet the following requirements:
- They must be full-time undergraduate students or enrolled in a combined undergraduate-Master’s program.
- They must be graduating between December 2024 and December 2025.
- They must not be enrolled in a Master’s only program.
- Their cumulative grade point average must be at least 80%.
- They do not need to take a language proficiency exam.
- There are no other additional requirements.
