CVSP: A New Program to Help Western Australian Construction Businesses Fill the Skilled Worker Gap
Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP)
The CVSP is a new program that provides grants of up to $10,000 to support skilled migration visa pathways for workers in the Western Australian construction industry.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the CVSP, employers must:
- Sponsor a skilled migrant in one of the following visa subclasses: 482, 494, or 186.
- Be headquartered and undertaking building and construction work in Western Australia, in an eligible occupation.
How to apply
If you are an employer, you can apply for the CVSP in two ways:
- Milestone 1: If you are making a claim for one skilled migrant, you can complete the CVSP Employer Sponsored Stream – Milestone 1 – Claim Form.
- Milestone 2: If you are making a claim for two or more skilled migrants, you will need to provide a brief outline of planned and upcoming work, including the occupations your sponsored skilled migrant will be working in.
If you are a skilled migrant, you can apply for the CVSP if you have been granted a visa through the WA State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP) in one of the following visa subclasses: 190 or 491. You must also be employed by a business headquartered and undertaking building and construction work in WA, in an eligible occupation.
To apply for the CVSP, you will need to:
- Lodge an Expression of Interest in SkillSelect to indicate your interest in WA State Nomination.
- Register your details on the Skilled Migrant Employment Register (SMER).
- Once you have been approved for State Nomination and your visa has been granted by the Commonwealth’s Department of Home Affairs, register your arrival and visa approval with Migration Services.
