Better patient care is the ultimate goal of all health care activities and is provided by doctors, nurses and allied health care staff. Provision of health care is a team effort and the allied health worker is an integral part of the health care team, who, if not available, affects the quality of health care provision.
The School of Allied Health Sciences has the honor of being the first institution in Punjab to start professional degree courses in different disciplines of Allied health Sciences. The School is conducting total 7 degree programs including 5 year degree program in Doctor of Physical Therapy, B.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology, Bsc. Medical Laboratory Technology courses, B.Sc. Dental Technology, B.Sc. Occupational Therapy, B.Sc. Speech & Language Pathology, and B.Sc. Operation Theater Technology. The aim of these programes is to equip the students with relevant professional knowledge, skills, techniques and ethical values to enable them to apply their acquired expertise at level between the doctors and the patient for efficient health service delivery.
The School of Allied Health Sciences is located on the second floor of “The OPD Block” of Children’s Hospital & Institute of Child Health, Lahore. It has spacious air conditioned lecture rooms equipped with modern teaching aids like multimedia and over head projectors. The School has a fully equipped anatomy museum, computer lab and library. The students have full access to the main Library and Laboratories etc. of the Children’s Hospital. The faculty of the School comprises of highly trained professionals who are expert in their fields and are recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan for running graduate programmes. The School offers training in some of the world’s most modern equipment in Imaging Technology, Physiotherapy and diagnostics.
The School of Allied Health Sciences has provided an opportunity to develop human resources and to produce the scientists for the future in relative disciplines of Allied Health Sciences. The graduates will be an asset to the country and will help in improving the quality of health care in Pakistan.
