Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC) JaIaIpur Jattan Campus
Jalalpur Jattan is a town located in district Gujrat. The city was founded by Jatt named Jalal and Kula Chor, a place in Jalalpur Jattan, was built by Chandaragupta Maurya, an Indian Ruler in 300 BC. It is situated about 16 km in north east of Gujrat. River Chenab flows a few kilometers away from the city.
The city has moderate climate. During the peak in summer, the daytime temperature shoots upto to 45oC, but the hot spells are relatively short due to the proximity of the Azad Kashmir Mountains. The area is highly fertile and its economy is based on agriculture. The main cash crops of Jalalpur Jattan are wheat, corn and sugarcane and its well known for its historic, political, literary and social values.
The number of students presently enrolled for matric classes in the schools of the area are above 6000. The non-availability of an institution imparting quality education in the disciplines of commerce and science was a serious concern of the ambitious students and their motivated parents in Jalalpur Jattan. Consequently, to facilitate the students Punjab College, Jalalpur Jattan has been established which is situated on Jalalpur Jattan Gujrat road and spread up over an area of 24 kanals. Its location makes it easily approachable not only for students from different parts of the city but also for those coming from the adjoining villages. It is purposely built and has spacious lawns. All the class rooms, well equipped laboratories and library are air conditioned. The college faculty is highly qualified, experienced and devoted for imparting quality education. The college is affiliated with the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala.
