At RSNA in Chicago this week GE Healthcare introduced its ViosWorks software for analyzing cardiac MRI scans. Although not yet available for clinical uses, ViosWorks, developed at GE Global Research in Munich, provides a detailed view of the flow of blood in and around the heart.
Intended to let cardiologists have an improved view of the effects of a cardiac infarct, the technology may help in diagnosing the regions damaged and how they affect the cardiovascular state of the patient.
The technology relies on a purely software-driven approach that works with any existing MRI system. But, unlike existing software, ViosWorks is able to rapidly combine and process data to create animations of the hemodynamics that were previously impossible.
