PHOENIX, Az. — Authorities are reportedly investigating a disturbing rape of a woman in a vegetative state at a nursing facility.It happened at Hacienda Healthcare Facility in Phoenix. Doctors and nurses had no idea the woman was pregnant, so were stunned when she went into labor last week.
The woman has been in a vegetative state for about 14 years after a near-drowning accident, KTVK reported.According to the news stations’ source, the patient starting moaning and a nurse ended up delivering the baby. The woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy.The source said the patient had around-the-clock care with many people having access to her room.Adult Protective Services and the Arizona Health Department are both looking into the rape, as well as Phoenix Police.

“We are aware of this situation and are actively working with local law enforcement in their criminal investigation. Upon learning of the allegation, Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) immediately initiated an onsite complaint investigation to ensure the health and safety of the patients and ensure the facility is in compliance with all state laws and regulations. During this time, the agency has required heightened safety measures be implemented at the facility including increased staff presence during patient interactions, increased monitoring of the patient care areas, and increased security measures with respect to visitors at the facility.” – Arizona Health Department
